[OKAY. SO.

Rin is PREPARED for this date, because it's in a less than ideal room and it's going to be creepy if they don't have something to do here.

So there's a couple things set out on the table in the room: a game called 'hungry hungry hippos', as well as 'clue'. He also grabbed some art supplies, because doing art crap with Sara was pretty fun and maybe it'll be fun with Ruler too. He didn't bring all of the paint though, just some paper, gel pens, and colored pencils.

He'll wait there, sitting in one of the chairs, until Ruler arrives.]

[ with a little basket of snacks - onigiri, sugar-glazed fruit, and crispy rice cakes, as well as tea in a thermos - ruler makes his way into the holding cells. honestly this is not that great of a place to date but he really doesn't mind, so? ]

[ by this point his hair might not be tied up but it is at least over his shoulder in a loose, untied braid ]

[He's got hungry hungry hippos out first, because that game is oddly satisfying.]

[ setting the basket down near them, though he gives a blank look at the. hippos? ]

Ah. . . A board game?

[ he has never seen this before in his life, clearly. ]

Not just any board game. It's the board game.

[He presses a lever on the back of one of the hippos, and its head shoots out and 'eats' some of the balls.]

How do you play?

You hit the button and the hippo eats the 'food'. The fattest hippo wins, probably because they got to eat all the food.

That sounds simple enough. Is there anything else I should keep in mind?

Yeah, watch out so you don't pinch your fingers.

[He. May have done that the last time he played.]

Shall we start? Did you already pick a color?

[flamingprick]

This one's fine.

[He has the yellow hippo right now.]

[counterfaith]

Then, I'll take this one.

[ red! tapping at it a little experimentally ]

[Rin will put the balls he used for the demonstration back into the game area before they begin.]

Alright! Ready, set, go!

[And he's mashing that button now. Surprisingly, fast isn't always best, since if you go too fast it'll just knock the balls around instead of eating them. Rin might have forgotten that.]

[ he's watching the "food" roll around - when he hits the button, it's with a preciseness of purpose, meaning that he's actually pretty good at collecting bofa.

But yeah Ruler's technique is better, Rin is just knocking the balls around and not collecting many. So by the time the game ends, Ruler probably has more and is the clear winner.]

How are you so good at it? Did you play it before?

But if you hit so hard, the balls will roll away.

[He snickers at that.]

[He's already setting up the game again.]

For Allen I just listened to all the sad stuff that happened to him, and then hugged him and told him it was okay. Apparently nobody's ever done that for him before?

[He sure did just indirectly admit to 'being with' Allen though.]

We read books together and I taught her a few card games. I guess my charming personality really did win her over.

Also he's totally going to follow Ruler's advice and go a bit slower this time, so that maybe he stands a chance of winning.]

[ his own luck only goes so far - he can time hitting the hippo perfectly, but as luck would have it, the balls simply roll more towards rin than himself ]
